The US Open logo isn’t the only piece of artwork that’s new for 2018. In keeping with the modern look of the new symbol for the event at large, the USTA unveiled a sleek new logo for Arthur Ashe Stadium on Saturday.

Joined by members of the Ashe family and former New York City mayor David Dinkins, USTA Chairman and President Katrina Adams led a brief ceremony in the South Plaza of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, revealing the logo for the first time in the shadow of the statue of the stadium’s namesake.

“Arthur is a person who meant so much to so many; the true definition of an icon,” said Adams. “So we thought it only fitting that the largest tennis stadium in the world deserved a new, iconic logo.”

The new design is the latest in a slew of recent upgrades around the NTC, where the USTA just completed five-year, $600 million strategic transformation, highlighted by the official opening of the new Louis Armstrong Stadium on Wednesday.

Opened in 1997, the 23,771-capacity stadium was updated with a retractable roof for the 2016 US Open. With a new logo just in time for the US Open's 50th anniversary, tennis' grandest stage is set for the future.

“Arthur Ashe Stadium remains the centerpiece of this magnificent facility,” said Adams.
